Your perception of yourself, your relationships and the world around you will totally change. You will realize that you have been looking at yourself, your relationships and the world around you through a lens created by taking the Blue Pill. The Blue Pill allows you to live your life out of an illusionary False Self.
The Matrix, that we have eagerly tried to expose, actually exists inside of all of us through the misinformation and lies that we were told by people we trusted and therefore have come to believe. I am not saying there are no bad guys out there. I am saying we will not be able to spot them and identify their lies and misinformation, if you are living out of a False Self. Suddenly, this becomes more important in the middle pf this pandemic because now you have to make crucial decisions related to taking risks of contacting COVID-19 or staying sheltered. Do you go to work or stay home? These can be life or death decisions.
What is your False Self, you might ask? Well, it is the Self you present to other people in order to be accepted by them, be liked by them and to belong. The need to belong is a basic human need, but you do not have to sacrifice your True Self in order to do that.
Almost everyone in this country lives out of their False Self most of the time. What anchors your False Self is your fear of being seen the way you believe you really are. This faulty self-image is anchored in your shame-based beliefs about yourself. I have a surprise for you, you are not your False Self and you are much smarter, wiser, good looking and witty than you think you are. What you need to do is identify and change your shame-based beliefs that anchor your False Self. This book shows you how to do just that.
You also have a True Self and unless you are able to live out of your True Self, you will continue to fall prey to the illusions and lies that you are exposed to every day by watching the 24/7 cable news networks. By reading this book, you will learn ways to free yourself to live out of your True Self instead. Barry K. Weinhold, PhD is Professor Emeritus at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where he taught for over 30 years. Barry is a licensed psychologist in private practice since 1976 and the author or co-author of over 70 books on various areas of psychology. His latest book before this one is The Open-Hearted Lover: Love Is All You Need.
He currently serves as the Clinical Director of the Colorado Institute For Conflict Resolution and Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs. He and his wife and life partner, Janae B. Weinhold, PhD, have pioneered in the study of childhood trauma, they call developmental trauma, that they believe is the source of most of the suffering in the world. He lives in Colorado Springs and enjoys fishing and hiking as well as curling up with a good book.
