Promoting Positive Mental Health in Children training provides both a theoretical and practical tools for childcare and early childhood education professionals wishing to improve mental health in children. It synthesizes a broad spectrum of information, resources, programs and services that promote positive mental health in children.
The Need for Professional Training in Children’s Mental Health
Interest in children’s mental health parallels a dramatic increase in the number of young children being identified as violent, defiant, hyperactive and suffering from an array of what appear to be mental health-related problems. Many, if not most, of these children are being given these negative labels and diagnoses erroneously.
In fact, these problem children are profoundly gifted and, therefore, do not fit into the outdated childcare and educational structures in which they find themselves. Misbehavior is often their way of communicating that they need something different.
Because of a lack of awareness in the adults who care for them, some of these highly advanced children are experiencing a lot of developmental trauma at home and in childcare and schools. You will find more information about how to promote positive mental health in children .
